Keeping us safe, Making us proud
In most cases, our guards are lifelong Gators. They've grown up at Nottingham, know other members, love our pool, and are invested in making it a great place to spend summer days! The guards are certified and well trained to keep swimmers safe. They are friendly and helpful, but also have an important job to do, so we need to allow them to stay focused while in the guard chair. And, remember, even though they're young, they're in charge! And they LOVE pizza, burgers and treats...(hint, hint)
We are thrilled to announce that Craig Young is our new pool manager. Craig is not new to Nottingham Swim Club, as he is the Gators head coach and he & his family are NSC members. While the Suburban Swim League swim season was cancelled for the 2020 season, Craig wants to continue to engage the NSC youth in fun activities to keep them healthy and foster a love of swimming.
Craig has extensive lifeguarding experience, at swim clubs and the beach. He grew up guarding at Persimmon Creek, serving as assistant manager and head swim coach responsibilities for two years. Craig guarded in Dewey Beach for 5 years, serving as co-captain of the Dewey Beach Competition Team for 2 years; in 2013, was selected as Lifeguard of the Year by his fellow guards for his leadership within the patrol.
Craig is currently the Health and Physical Education teacher and head swim coach at Delaware Military Academy. He was born and raised in Newark, swimming for Glasgow High School and the University of Delaware, earning state and conference honors at the high school and collegiate levels.
Craig looks forward to leading the guards this summer and helping to provide a safe, enjoyable environment for all Nottingham Swim Club members.
